Love In The Time Of CoronaVirus

I want to start this post  by sharing with everyone how much I truly appreciate others and their differences which commonly unite us as one. However, my resolve and conviction remains absolute under such troubling times.

What is love? How has it been impacted by coronavirus? What do we search for within relationships?

All of us around the world are in isolation which leaves plenty of time for self-reflection, philosophy and/or a deeper spiritual awareness. Some of us will turn to God, but one thing has become a certainty…

Human connection is important.

The universe is telling us to slow down and appreciate each other more and give thanks for all the relationships we have. I find it ironic that this very isolation has given us the realization that we are not alone and that we need one another now more than ever. It has also drawn people closer together and even older generations that are not accustomed to technology into modern times through the use of FaceTime, Zoom, Skype, WhatsApp etc.

Yet at the same time, this distance allows us to appreciate one another without physical stimulation much like the courtship phase of generations past. We live in a world of immediate satisfaction which was not the norm of previous generations. We are being given the opportunity to really understand and appreciate one another’s idiosyncrasies. I love now as an entire race, generation, creed or color we find ourselves galvanized and united.

I am motivated now more than ever to bring people together through the exploration of food, wine and culture through the #UNWINED social movement. As we look at our world through the lens of a camera it becomes apparent that the real lens is like that of a microscope. Why is a lens perfect? Because it magnifies the very small things that we should appreciate about each other. Things that are seen not through the naked eye which so often we have misappropriated our value by seeing each other naked without getting to know one another.

What are the most important qualities in one another that we should value? Is it intelligence, compassion, beauty, race, creed, religion or color? The answer is a resounding NO to anything superficial as we are bonded as one people under God. We should place value on intelligence and commonalities.

• Take time to appreciate one another and renew your love with an increased sense of priority and compassion. Establish a new set of boundaries and values for the manner in which we love.
• Take time to understand one another fully so that we may forge the world anew in harmony.

Love is important in our business lives as well; corporations may operate with a similar set of values for which they will be beloved.

UNWINED is a way of life that is constantly exploring other countries and people through cuisines, wine and the arts.

It is a social movement that attempts to understand the basic root of what nurtures us as humans and is passed down through food, wine, music or culture.

We need to understand everyone in order to make this world a better place. It nurtures ones mind to travel, speak with others, break bread and drink their wine. I have been inspired by my countless trips around the world in relentless pursuit of epicurean delight or wine knowledge. Somewhere along the way, I discovered that food and wine were just a vessel for the real riches of another human which was their story.

Ask not what is different about another person from yourself yet instead what is it that you can learn from this other person. The very basis of this ideal is what has inspired me to share how to live life on your own terms and truly appreciate the small things in order to have a much bigger perspective on life.
